The Olympic Museum is presenting an exhibition titled “A Look Back at the Paris 2024 Games,” featuring previously unseen photographs from the event at the Lausanne Railway station. This exhibition is available for public viewing from December 19, 2024, to September 30, 2025, with free entry to all visitors. It showcases a selection of exclusive photographs that celebrate Lausanne’s connection to the Olympic Movement.

This exhibition comprises images sourced from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) photo collections, encompassing over 900,000 photographs spanning back to the Athens 1896 Games. The selected images capture the athletes’ agility and expression, emphasizing the dynamism of various events within the Paris 2024 Games. The photographers employed creative techniques, incorporating the lavender hue that represented the Paris 2024 Olympics, thus expanding the artistic possibilities of sports photography.

In spring 2025, further exhibitions will highlight sports photography and the Olympic Games at two museums in Lausanne. The “Sport in Focus” exhibition seeks to present the extensive photo collections from both the Olympic Museum and the Photo Elysée museum. It will run from March 28 to August 18, 2025, at Photo Elysée and from May to September 2025 at the Olympic Museum.

Lausanne, recognized as an Olympic Capital, has long been associated with major sporting events that feature rich photographic documentation. Celebrating this legacy, the exhibition aims to showcase the artistic and historical significance of the photographs taken during the Paris 2024 Games. As the photographs date back to the inaugural modern Olympics in 1896, this exhibition underscores the evolution of sports photography throughout the years. The upcoming “Sport in Focus” exhibition later in 2025 will further emphasize the artistic nature of sports photography by combining collections from two esteemed institutions, illustrating the role of photography in capturing the spirit and achievement of the Olympic Games.

The exhibition at the Olympic Museum serves as a tribute to the Paris 2024 Games and the continuous relationship between Lausanne and the Olympic Movement. By presenting exclusive photographs from the event, it not only celebrates the athletes’ achievements but also highlights the artistic expression inherent in sports photography. Furthermore, upcoming exhibitions aim to deepen the appreciation for this genre, connecting past and present through visual storytelling.
