Mainland China has initiated a new program to attract Taiwanese workers and investors to Fujian, particularly targeting sectors like technology, medicine, and media. The plan includes measures such as job creation in the lithium battery industry and rent subsidies for medical professionals. This effort aims to strengthen cross-strait economic ties and promote integration between Taiwan and the mainland.

The government of Mainland China has initiated a new incentive program aimed at attracting Taiwanese professionals and investors to Fujian province. This drive, reported by state broadcaster CCTV, consists of 17 measures designed to facilitate cross-strait exchanges and foster economic integration as Fujian seeks to solidify its role in the relationship between Taiwan and the mainland.

To support Taiwanese participation in the local economy, the Fujian city of Ningde plans to create a minimum of 100 job openings each year in its burgeoning lithium battery sector over the next three years. Applicants possessing bachelor’s degrees or higher qualifications will qualify for an annual subsidy of up to 50,000 yuan (approximately US$6,900) for a duration of three years.

In Putian, the provincial government is implementing incentives to draw Taiwanese biopharmaceutical companies to a designated industrial area, offering facilities for research and trial production as part of the scheme. The policy also includes rent subsidies of up to 50% for individuals who accept positions in the medical sector, specifically in two targeted districts.

Furthermore, a pilot project aims to encourage Taiwanese enterprises to invest in radio and television production within Fujian, streamlining the application process and reducing approval timeframes to facilitate business initiatives. The initiatives represent an extension of previous efforts made by Beijing over the past decade to build stronger economic ties with Taiwan.
