On July 26, 2024, Liu Yuxi, the Special Representative of the Chinese Government on African Affairs and Ambassador for the Forum on China-Africa Cooperation (FOCAC), visited Sao Tome and Principe. During his visit, he met with Gareth Haddad Guadalupe, the Foreign Minister, and Disney Ramos, the Economy Minister of Sao Tome and Principe. The Chinese Ambassador to Sao Tome and Principe, Xu Yingzhen, participated in these activities as well.

During his discussions, Liu Yuxi highlighted the steady development of bilateral relations between China and Sao Tome and Principe since the resumption of diplomatic ties.
