Chinese Ambassador Zhou Ding Attends Launch of Zimbabwe’s Digital Truck Project
On February 19, Chinese Ambassador Zhou Ding accompanied Zimbabwe’s President Mnangagwa at the launch of the Digital Truck Project supported by Huawei. Zhou emphasized the project’s role in rural digital skills training. President Mnangagwa highlighted its significance for achieving Vision 2030. Both leaders affirmed strengthening cooperation between China and Zimbabwe.
On February 19, Chinese Ambassador to Zimbabwe Zhou Ding joined Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa at the launch ceremony of the Digital Truck Project, which is backed by Huawei. The event also featured Zimbabwe’s Minister of Information Communication Technology and other government officials from various sectors.
Ambassador Zhou praised the Digital Truck Project for its potential to enhance digital skills training in rural areas, thereby contributing to sustainable development in Zimbabwe. He highlighted China’s commitment to international cooperation in artificial intelligence, ensuring equitable progress for all nations. Zhou noted that since the establishment of diplomatic relations 45 years ago, China and Zimbabwe have experienced significant bilateral cooperation, particularly in digital and information technology fields.
President Mnangagwa emphasized that digital transformation is crucial for achieving Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030. He expressed appreciation for China’s enduring support, recognizing the positive impact of their partnership on Zimbabwe’s socio-economic growth. Both leaders reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening collaborative efforts for mutual benefits and progress.
The Digital Truck Project represents a key initiative in enhancing Zimbabwe’s digital skills and supports the country’s aspiration for sustainable development. Both China and Zimbabwe reaffirm their commitment to deepening their cooperation, particularly in the digital and technology sectors, which will be instrumental for Zimbabwe’s socio-economic progress towards Vision 2030.
