Officials from the political administration in Damascus, linked to the Syrian Interim Government, asserted that security forces have secured the Naval College in Latakia and are pursuing remaining insurgents. They specifically refuted rumors of a forced retreat, labeling these claims as part of a psychological warfare tactic designed to create confusion among the populace.

Moreover, the administration has alerted citizens to disregard false information and emphasized its commitment to restoring security. Military reinforcements, including tanks, have been dispatched to reinforce security operations in the coastal region, aiming to maintain control and order despite the rising tensions.

The Syrian Interim Government’s Ministry of Defense confirmed the deployment of substantial military support in the Jableh area to stabilize security. Unfortunately, ongoing confrontations have resulted in the deaths of at least 28 members of the Syrian security forces in the vicinity of Jableh.

Initial tensions were sparked in Beit Aana, al-Hassan’s hometown, when local residents intervened to prevent an arrest by security forces. The resulting crackdown led to violent clashes, during which fighters loyal to al-Hassan reportedly killed seven security personnel and injured others, in addition to civilian casualties.

In response to the aerial confrontations, the Supreme Alawi Islamic Council condemned the bombardment of civilian homes, urging for peaceful demonstrations against the violence, particularly in Latakia and other key regions.

In light of the tensions and reported fatalities among security forces, numerous citizens have gathered in cities such as Hama and Homs in support of the Interim Syrian Government. Here, citizens reaffirm their opposition to the return of remnants from the former regime, as stated by SANA.

The Ministry of Interior conveyed its understanding of public outrage but called for restraint and respect for state laws. The agency emphasized the need for national unity while requesting citizens to allow government forces to manage the situation without interference.

Moreover, a general curfew has been enforced in Tartus and Homs from late Thursday until Friday morning to maintain order. Since the regime’s fall, numerous instances of violence, including clashes and violations, have been reported, with the authorities vowing to address these issues.

Notably, activists reported the Coastal Shield Brigade’s brief control over the Naval Command before government forces reasserted their dominance shortly thereafter. Additionally, a new Military Council aimed at liberating Syrian territory from occupying forces announced its formation, seeking support from the public and the international community.

Finally, the arrest of Major General Ibrahim Huwaija, a former high-ranking intelligence officer, highlights ongoing efforts to address past atrocities linked to the former regime.
