The Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe celebrated 40 years of cooperation by honoring the 21st batch of Chinese medical workers and welcoming the 22nd. The Chinese Embassy in Zimbabwe hosted a reception to commemorate the 40th anniversary of the presence of the Chinese medical team in Zimbabwe. This event included a farewell to the 21st batch of the team, recognized for their dedicated service with medals, and welcomed the 22nd batch.

Zimbabwean Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care, Sleiman Kwidini, remarked on the partnership, stating it exemplifies what nations can achieve through mutual respect and friendship. He noted that, for four decades, the medical teams have significantly improved healthcare in remote areas and forged stronger bonds between Zimbabwe and China.

Kwidini emphasized that Chinese medical teams have not only treated patients but have also fostered lasting relationships between the two nations, creating a legacy that will benefit future generations. He praised their compassion, collaboration, and unwavering dedication.

Cheng Yan, the charge d’affaires of the Chinese Embassy, highlighted that this anniversary signifies four decades of commitment from Chinese medical teams to Zimbabwe. He expressed that their work reflects China’s vision of a global health community, focusing on treating illnesses while building friendships.

Cheng announced plans for more than 60 Zimbabwean healthcare professionals to visit China for training this year and noted that the 21st batch of the Chinese team treated over 14,000 patients and trained more than 1,000 local health workers in the past year.
