Golden State Warriors May Pursue Olympian Bruno Caboclo for Roster Addition
The Golden State Warriors have undergone slight adjustments to their roster during this offseason. Following unsuccessful attempts to acquire high-profile players such as Paul George and Lauri Markkanen, the Warriors are striving to remain competitive in the Western Conference after experiencing an absence from the playoffs in the previous season.
Despite their challenges in securing preferred trade candidates, it appears that the organization may still explore additional roster modifications. According to a report from the Israeli outlet Sports Channel, which has been referenced by Eurohoops, the agent for Brazilian forward Bruno Caboclo has indicated that Caboclo has been training with the Golden State Warriors with the aim of securing a contract. Agent Daniel Hazan expressed optimism regarding Caboclo’s endeavor, stating, “He is training with Golden State until Thursday intending to get a contract. And he believes he will succeed.”
Caboclo recently distinguished himself at the 2024 Paris Olympics, averaging 17.3 points per game, a mark which not only led the Brazilian national team but also placed him twelfth overall in the tournament. Moreover, his performance encompassed an average of 7.0 rebounds per game, ranking eighth in that statistic throughout the competition. Notably, Caboclo made an impactful impression in the quarterfinals against Team USA, where he scored 30 points and collected six rebounds, despite his team’s defeat.
Originally selected as a first-round pick by the Toronto Raptors in 2014, Caboclo last participated in an NBA game during the 2020-21 season with the Houston Rockets. Now at the age of 28, he remains hopeful for a renewed opportunity in the NBA.
