Xi Jinping Advocates Educational Reform for Scientific and Technological Advancement in China
Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized the importance of education in supporting scientific and technological development and talent cultivation during a meeting with political advisors in Beijing. He urged for alignment between educational reforms and modernization goals, underscoring the necessity of moral education. Xi called for collaborative efforts to enhance the quality and effectiveness of talent development, positioning China as a leader in education and innovation.
Chinese President Xi Jinping underscored the importance of education in fostering scientific and technological progress and talent development during a visit to national political advisors associated with various Chinese political organizations. This meeting, held on March 6 in Beijing, aligned with the third session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC). Xi highlighted the need for education to align closely with the modernization goals of China, aiming to cultivate an environment where talent can flourish and contribute to national development.
As International Women’s Day approaches, Xi extended his warm wishes to female representatives participating in the National People’s Congress and the CPPCC, as well as to women across various sectors. He recognized the integral role of women in contributing to societal progress and offered greetings to those from diverse ethnic groups and regions, including Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan.
Wang Huning and Cai Qi joined Xi to engage with political advisors, where six notable advisors addressed critical educational topics. These included enhancing the synergy between vocational education and industry, improving resource allocation for primary education, fostering a reading culture among youth, advancing a network for educational intelligence, and integrating cultural education into school curricula.
In his speech, Xi expressed satisfaction with the discussions and acknowledged the CPPCC’s contributions to national initiatives. He commended organizations like the China Democratic League (CDL) and the China Association for Promoting Democracy (CAPD) for their commitment to addressing central tasks and furthering educational advancements, which aim to cultivate individuals with comprehensive skills and moral integrity.
Xi stressed the necessity of a correct educational orientation, focusing on the holistic development of students who can contribute positively to socialism. He emphasized the importance of infusing moral education across all educational levels and aligning academic curricula with political education to foster civic responsibility among students.
Additionally, he highlighted the need for systematic educational reform aimed at establishing a high-quality education system.
