Ihar Boki: A Para Swimming Icon Set to Shine at the Paris 2024 Paralympics
Ihar Boki, a distinguished Para swimmer from Belarus, is poised to captivate audiences once again at the upcoming Paris 2024 Paralympic Games. Born on June 28, 1994, in Babrouïsk, Belarus, Mr. Boki faced significant challenges from an early age due to vision impairment. However, his spirited nature led his parents to seek guidance, ultimately resulting in a recommendation for him to pursue swimming, a decision that would become pivotal in his life.
Mr. Boki made an impressive debut at the 2010 World Championships in Eindhoven, where, at the tender age of 16, he secured four titles, heralding the beginning of a remarkable career. His success continued at the London 2012 Paralympic Games, where he showcased his extraordinary talent by competing in multiple events including the 100m butterfly, 200m medley, 100m backstroke, and the 50m, 100m, and 400m freestyle. His exemplary performance resulted in five gold medals and one silver medal in the S13 classification, alongside the establishment of four world records at just 18 years of age, establishing him as Belarus’ most decorated Paralympian.
Mr. Boki’s subsequent participation in the World and European Championships and the Rio 2016 Paralympic Games further solidified his status as a dominant force in Para swimming, where he continued to amass gold medals and set new world records.

His inspiring performance continued at the Tokyo Paralympics, culminating in an additional five gold medals despite the unconventional circumstances of his preparation.
