Tulsi Gabbard, US Director of National Intelligence, highlighted the threat of Islamist terrorism during her visit to India. She emphasized collaboration between US and Indian leadership to combat this issue, particularly concerning attacks from Pakistan. Additionally, Gabbard addressed India’s concerns about SFJ activities in the US and underlined the importance of enhancing India-US strategic ties.
Tulsi Gabbard, the United States Director of National Intelligence, remarked on the substantial threat posed by Islamist terrorism to both the United States and India, underscoring collaborative efforts between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and President Donald Trump to combat this menace. During her meeting with India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, Gabbard elaborated on the global repercussions of Islamist terrorism, which affects numerous countries, including those in the Middle East.
In response to inquiries about the frequent terrorist attacks from Pakistan targeting India, Gabbard focused on the overarching issue of Islamist terrorism. She stated, “President Trump, during his first administration and continuing now, has been very clear about his commitment to defeating the threat of Islamist terrorism, which has tragically impacted us and continues to pose a direct threat to the American people.” Furthermore, she noted the effects of this threat on nations including India, Bangladesh, Syria, and Israel.
The news agency ANI reported that India addressed concerns over anti-India activities orchestrated by the Khalistani organization SFJ (Sikhs For Justice) during Gabbard’s meeting with Defence Minister Rajnath Singh. India’s government urged the US to take decisive action against this unlawful entity to enhance bilateral security cooperation.
Gabbard’s visit to India marks the first high-level trip by a senior official of the Trump administration since his presidency began. Following her discussions with Rajnath Singh, a spectrum of strategic topics was explored to bolster India-US relations, focusing particularly on defense and information exchange. In a social media post, Singh expressed his satisfaction regarding the discussions, stating, “Happy to have met the US Director of National Intelligence Ms @TulsiGabbard in New Delhi. We discussed a wide range of issues which include defence and information sharing, aiming to further deepen the India-US partnership.”
The remarks by Tulsi Gabbard emphasize the critical nature of Islamist terrorism as a shared concern for the United States and India, highlighting efforts to strengthen bilateral ties in combating this threat. Furthermore, India’s concerns regarding anti-India activities from organizations like SFJ emphasize the necessity for cooperative action against terrorism. Gabbard’s visit underscores the importance of defense collaboration and strategic dialogue between the two nations.
