In response to the ongoing situation, President Trump signed an executive order granting himself authority to enact the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to facilitate these deportations. Although a judge temporarily halted the authority to do so, the administration asserts that deportation flights had already taken off prior to the judicial ruling that intervened.
