On March 17, 2025, Egyptian Prime Minister Mostafa Madbouly announced extensive security and logistical preparations for the Grand Egyptian Museum (GEM) inauguration set for July 3, 2025. In a cabinet meeting, he highlighted the anticipated attendance of numerous dignitaries, including kings, presidents, and prime ministers, and stressed the necessity of having airports fully prepared to welcome these esteemed guests.
Prime Minister Madbouly emphasized active work to enhance infrastructure surrounding the Grand Egyptian Museum, focusing on improving routes and the overall aesthetic appeal. Key enhancements will include site landscaping, strategic lighting, and additional improvements to ensure high standards of quality for visitors.
The inauguration celebrations will extend beyond Cairo and Giza to include several governorates across the country, necessitating that all sites meet the highest standards. Ambassador Yasser Shaaban confirmed that invitee lists have already been finalized, including numerous distinguished personalities from various sectors.
Lieutenant General Kamel El-Wazir announced that three metro stations adjacent to the museum will be completed before the event. Furthermore, he noted that the Ring Road will be operational in the ensuing days to support regional development and accessibility around the museum area.
