He highlighted that a significant number of Bangladeshi students are currently studying in China, with expectations for even more to join in the future.
After a recent state visit to China, Chief Advisor Muhammad Yunus emphasized the strong foundation laid during the 50 years of bilateral relations between Bangladesh and China. Key areas of focus for future collaboration include water resources and industrialization, showcasing the depth of the partnership.
Khalilur Rahman noted that enhancing ties between educational institutions is crucial for fostering people-to-people connections. He recalled the chief advisor’s message to Chinese leaders and Peking University officials, advocating for increased enrollment of Bangladeshi students, stating, “We want thousands of Bangladeshi students, not just one or two, to study in China.”
The forthcoming visit by the governor of Kunming in April will further emphasize education as a pivotal topic of discussion. Additionally, Bangladesh and China have established agreements for economic and technical cooperation, supplemented by eight memoranda of understanding on various fields, including cultural exchanges and media collaboration.
China has committed $2.1 billion in loans and investments to Bangladesh, with both nations agreeing to enhance collaboration in crucial areas such as hydropower, climate change mitigation, and flood control.
