Pakistan Calls for Action Against Jaffar Express Attack and Condemns Human Rights Violations
Pakistan has urged Afghanistan to take action against the perpetrators of the Jaffar Express attack, which involved holding over 400 passengers hostage. Furthermore, Pakistan condemned Israel’s blockade of humanitarian aid to Gaza and criticized India’s recent suppression of Kashmiri political groups. The government calls for international accountability and a two-State solution for Palestine.
Pakistan has formally called upon the Afghan government to take decisive action against the perpetrators of the recent Jaffar Express attack in Balochistan. Foreign Office Spokesperson Shafqat Ali Khan stated during a weekly press briefing that the attack represents a terrorist operation originating from outside Pakistan, emphasizing the need for collaboration against terrorism by the Taliban-led Afghan authorities.
On Tuesday, terrorists attacked the Jaffar Express near Sibi, taking over 400 passengers hostage. Pakistani security forces responded swiftly, eliminating all 33 attackers and rescuing the hostages by Wednesday, although tragically, 21 civilians had already lost their lives prior to the operation, and four Frontier Corps personnel died during the rescue mission.
In addition to addressing the terrorist incident, the Foreign Office spokesperson condemned Israel’s blockade of humanitarian aid to Gaza. He described this blockade as part of a calculated campaign to weaponize aid and dehumanize the Palestinian people, highlighting the ongoing Israeli assaults in Gaza and the West Bank which have led to substantial civilian casualties, particularly among women and children.
The spokesperson called for an immediate end to hostilities in the West Bank and Gaza, emphasizing the need for civilian protection and unrestricted humanitarian access. He urged the international community to intervene and hold Israel accountable for its perceived war crimes and human rights abuses against the Palestinians.
Moreover, he expressed disapproval regarding India’s recent decision to label the ‘Awami Action Committee’ and ‘Jammu and Kashmir Ittihad-ul-Muslimeen’ as ‘Unlawful Associations’ for five years, highlighting that such actions suppress political activities and reflect a heavy-handed approach in the Kashmir region. He insisted that India should lift restrictions on Kashmiri political movements and comply with United Nations resolutions concerning Jammu and Kashmir.
The Deputy Prime Minister also condemned the proposal to resettle Palestinians in other nations, advocating for the establishment of a sovereign Palestinian state based on the pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital, to facilitate the enduring peace mandated by a two-State solution.
In conclusion, Pakistan has urged Afghanistan to address terrorism following the Jaffar Express attack, while also condemning Israel’s humanitarian blockade in Gaza and the suppression of Kashmiri political organizations by India. The Pakistani government emphasizes the importance of international cooperation to ensure peace and uphold human rights, ultimately calling for accountability and adherence to democratic principles in the region.
